Quelccaya
The Ice Heart of the Andes
Quelccaya is simply unique on the planet. It is the world’s largest tropical ice cap, an immense white plain stretching to over 5,600 meters above sea level in the Vilcanota mountain range. “Exploring its surroundings is a journey through time, amidst pure air and the absolute silence of the Andes. Here, the imposing ice walls and turquoise lagoons guard centuries of climatic history etched in crystal. It is a majestic and wild destination that demands respect, offering in return one of the most moving and mystical visual experiences in all of Peru.”
