One of the most visited attractions in peru and the city of cusco is the winikunca mountain of colors. it is a recent attraction that was discovered by the mountaineers who ascended the nevado del ausangate. the height of this mountain is 5300 m.a.s.l. with a cold weather and with an extraordinary colorful landscape typical of the mountains of the peruvian andes. there are communities around there that manage the tourist attraction and invite you to be part of this tour, sharing their customs, their gastronomy and typical livestock of the highlands such as the breeding of llamas and alpacas.

ITINERARY:

  • DETAILED ITINERARY
  • Hotel pick-up: Start of the journey from the city of Cusco.
  • Car trip to the south: Approximately 2-hour drive enjoying the Andean landscape.
  • Buffet breakfast in Cusipata: Strategic stop to enjoy an energetic breakfast to prepare the body for the altitude.
  • Start of the adventure: Transfer to the starting point where the ascent method is chosen:
  • Guided hike: 1-hour tour appreciating streams, mountains, lagoons, and snowy peaks.
  • Motorized and traditional options: Possibility of going up by ATVs (quad bikes), linear motorcycles, or horses.
  • Observation of flora and fauna: Sighting of local species and typical vegetation of the “puna” during the journey.
  • Arrival at Vinicunca (5,036 masl): Free time to enjoy the Rainbow Mountain and capture photographs of the landscape.
  • View of Apu Ausangate: Contemplation of the most sacred and venerated snowy peak by the Inca culture from the summit.
  • Descent to the restaurant: Hike back to recover energy with a local lunch.
  • Return to Cusco: Trip back to the city to finish the experience.
